Carly Coursey

SJSU MLIS '27, Editor & Writer, Neurodiversity Researcher

I was promoted to Library Assistant 4 and Bindery Coordinator at UC San Diego’s Geisel Library in January 2024. I work in the Preservation Lab on the Bindery Unit side, with the Repair Unit on the other side. I am enjoying learning all about preventative preservation, bindery and in-house binds, and disaster recovery. I’m also in grad school full time! I was accepted to San Jose State University’s iSchool and started my Master of Library and Information Science in Fall 2024. I am nearly halfway through my program and I am loving it. I decided to share some projects here for posterity:

Carly Gutierrez – Current Resume – September 2025

My poster for the virtual reality poster session held by SJSU iSchool during the CLA conference in Riverside in October 2025, “Neurodivergent Perspectives on Libraries and Academia”.

I was awarded the Graduate Equity Fellowship for the 2025-2026 year with Professor Evangeliste as my chosen mentor.

Neurodivergent People Working in Academic Libraries Presentation : My submission for the SJSU CIDS Online Student Research Conference 2025.

Neurodivergent Library Workers – This Prezi presentation earned me a Special Session Continuing Student scholarship from the iSchool for Fall 2025 and I am proud of it.

Queer and Disabled in San Diego, 2025 – This plan for an oral history project includes the steps and collecting narrators and a summary of the subject and question guide. I took Oral History over Summer 2025 with Dr. N and it was a fantastic class!

ALASC Spring 2025 Poetry Open Mic – April 2025 – In which I read four of my poems.

I also created a blog for INFO: 200 Information Communities with Professor Mary Evangeliste.

Happy to see you here. Maybe I will stop by more often.
